Open Hexapod is a new type of robot, built for enabling people to create, study, and improve different type of robotics devices. Starting from it's core, which in our case it happens to be an Asus EeePC 4G, we built up a modular system, which allows us easily add extra parts.Â

Flexibility - another engine could be added and configured in minutes
Ease of programming - the core of the robot, the Asus EeePC is a netbook, with screen, keyboard, and full networking capabilities.
Because of this, the robot can be programmed using high level scripting languages, obtaining a speed of development never achived by regular robots programmed in C or assambly.

Processing power - The EeePC has a 900Mhz processor, which allows us to use multiple inputs, and have audio synthesis, video processing, and some other resource-consuming applications.
Ease of use - by having graphical clients programmed for almost all platforms (Windows 32, Windows Mobile, Linux, MacOS), anyone is able to 'play' with the Open Hexapod, drive it in any direction, jump, rotate, move things with the arm, and watch a live video stream, from the robot's 'eye'.
